Is he really putting in a bid to run for president? It's sorta hard to tell if he's being serious or not.

Based on the movie, 'Man of the year', it is possible that he might be serious. Of course, its a movie, so we cant take that as credible.
Now, why should we take Stephan Colbert seriously?
Because I think he has a good research team for assessing his chances and assessing his capabilities for running for the President of the United States of America.

I was wondering too. I think he's just making fun of the way politicians present themselves through the whole candidacy process. It's a bit late in the game for him to run for real. Unfortunately.

I haven't heard of his possible candidacy, but I doubt it. His character on the Colbert Report is just that-a character.

Good for a few laughs, but not to be taken seriously.

No, what he is doing was done years ago by a guy named Pat Paulson who was a cast member of the Smothers Brothers show, and it was good for a laugh then, and will be good for one now.

It's "Stephen", not "Steven", but no, he's not serious.
