Based on the movie, 'Man of the year', it is possible that he might be serious. Of course, its a movie, so we cant take that as credible.
Now, why should we take Stephan Colbert seriously?
Because I think he has a good research team for assessing his chances and assessing his capabilities for running for the President of the United States of America.

I was wondering too. I think he's just making fun of the way politicians present themselves through the whole candidacy process. It's a bit late in the game for him to run for real. Unfortunately.

I haven't heard of his possible candidacy, but I doubt it. His character on the Colbert Report is just that-a character.
Good for a few laughs, but not to be taken seriously.

No, what he is doing was done years ago by a guy named Pat Paulson who was a cast member of the Smothers Brothers show, and it was good for a laugh then, and will be good for one now.
