Yes, it's called elimination because we go from 2 equations with 2 unknowns and eliminate one so we have one equation with one unknown.

In this problem first we're going to multiply the second equation by 2:

2(2x - 3y = 4) becomes

4x - 6y = 8 Now add the other equation to it:
3x + 6y = 6
___________

7x = 14, divide both sides by 7 and you get
x = 2

now plug this value in for x in one of the equations to get y and check in the other equation:

3(2) + 6y = 6
6 + 6y = 6
6y = 0
y = 0

2(2) - 3(0) = 4 Check! :)

3X + 6Y = 6
2X - 3Y = 4
Line the two equations up one under the other
and

multiply the easiest Eq to eliminate by a number which makes the variables the same , in this case the 2nd Eq ,for the Ys,
multiply by 2
3X + 6Y = 6
4X - 6Y = 8
substract to eliminate the Ys and find X
-X = -2
X = 2

Solve for Y using the first Eq and the value X you found

3X + 6Y = 6
3 ( 2 ) + 6Y = 6
6 + 6Y = 6
6Y = 6-6
Y = 0

The two answers are 2 and 0

Check by pluging the answers into the original equations

3 ( 2 ) + 6 ( Y ) = 6
6 + 6 ( 0 ) = 6
6 + 0 = 6
6 = 6

2 ( X ) - 3 ( Y ) = 4
2 ( 2 ) - 3 ( 0 ) = 4
4 - o = 4
4= 4

3x+6y=6 2x-3y=4

You can use subtraction to find a solution to the system.
3x+6y=6 3x+6y=6
2(2x-3y=4) +4x-6y=8
7x=14
x=2 use this number to substitute x in either equation
3(2)+6y+6
6+6y=6
6y=0
y=0 SO THE ANSWER IS (2,0)

Multiply 2nd equation by 2 getting:
4x-6y =8
Now add this to 1st equation getting:
7x = 14 [y has been eliminated]
x = 2
3(2) +6y =6
6+6y =6
y=0
So x = 2 and y= 0

okay to do this you must find some multiple by which multiplying one of the equations will make the coefficents cancel so, if we multiply the bottom equation by 2 we get

4x-6y=8

so now we add and the y's cancel leaving us with

7x=14
x=2

now substitute into either equation, i will use the first one giving us

6+6y=0

solving gives us y=0

so x=2 y=0
