8x-y=22.....(1)
x+4y=11....(2)
Multiplying (2) by 8 and subtracting it from(1)
8x-y=22
8x+32y=88
(subtracting) -33y= -66 y=-66/-33=2
Plugging y in(2),we get
x+4*2=11
x+8=11
x=11-8=3
Therefore, x=3 and y=2 ans
3x-5y=25.......(1)

5x+3y=19........(2)
Multiplying (1)by 5 and (2) by 3
15x-25y=125
`15x+15y=57
(subtracting) - 40y=68
y=68/-40=17/-10= -1 7/10
Plugging y in (1) we get
3x=5(-17/10)=25
3x+17/2=25
3x=25 -17/2=33/2
x=33/2*3=11/2=5 1/2

Here is how you do it so you can pass your test...it is very simple. Start by looking at the variables, in this case you have x's and y's. Choose a letter to cancel out. Pick something that will be easy. In this case, the y's look easy. So you must multiply every number in the first equation to give you -4y (-y * 4). This will also leave you with 32x (8x * 4) and 88 (22 * 4). Add the two equations together. 32x + x is 33x and 88 + 11 is 99. -4y + 4y is 0. Now you are left with one equation:

33x = 99

Divide 99 by 33 and you have 3. So x = 3.

Put x = 3 in either of the original equations and solve for y. I will just use the first equation. 8 * 3 = 24. Now your equation is:

24 - y = 22

Solving for y = 2.

You can check these answers by putting it in the second equation.

3 + 4 * 2 = 11
3 + 8 = 11
11 = 11

Good Luck!

Take the number in front of x on both equations and multiply the other equation by that number(on both sides).So as follows:

8x+1y=22
1x+4y=11

Since 8 and 1 are in front I do the following:
1(8x- 1y=22) = 8x- 1y=22
8(1x+4y=11) = 8x+32y=88

With the new equation I subtract vertically
8x- 1y= 22 (8x-8x cancels)
- 8x+32y= 88 (-1y-32y=-33y)
___________ (22-88=-66)
-33y= -66
Divide both sides by -33

y=2
If y=2 you can sub 2 into 8x-y=22
so 8x-2=22
so 8x =24
so x = 3

Question 1
y = 8x - 22
x + 32x - 88 = 11
33x = 99
x = 3

4y = 8
y = 2

x = 3 , y = 2

Question 2
9x - 15y = 75
25x + 15y = 95---ADD
34 x = 170
x = 170 / 34
x = 5

25 + 3y = 19
3y = - 6
y = - 2

x = 5 , y = - 2

8x-y=22, start off setting one equation to a variable
-y=22-8x
y=-22+8x
insert this into the next equation
x+4(-22+8x)=11
and solve for the other variable
x-88+32x=11
33x=11+88
x=99/33
x=3
now instert x into one of the equations and solve for last variable
8(3)-y=22
24-y=22
-y=22-24
y=2
so the solution is
(3,2)
