The benefits of using a computer occur when you use it for something real. If you use them at work for databases, spreadsheets, presentations and documents; then the benefits show themselves readily. i.e. e-mailing a spreadsheet report without having to print it off or send it through the post.

On the other hand, spending money on a computer just for browsing the internet could be money wasted. You would be better off using the free library People's Network, or going to a cybercafe.

I use one most of the time at work (where I am now!) and so discovered the benefits before I got one at home. It can be a useful tool, not just something for browsing the internet and wasting time here!!
