The benefits of using a computer occur when you use it for something real. If you use them at work for databases, spreadsheets, presentations and documents; then the benefits show themselves readily. i.e. e-mailing a spreadsheet report without having to print it off or send it through the post.
On the other hand, spending money on a computer just for browsing the internet could be money wasted. You would be better off using the free library People's Network, or going to a cybercafe.

I use one most of the time at work (where I am now!) and so discovered the benefits before I got one at home. It can be a useful tool, not just something for browsing the internet and wasting time here!!

Yeah i have to push myself to understand how to use my PC and the terminology, etc, etc but ironically am chuffed to bits once i have and can become very keen but this is not often.

I think I'm just far too lazy.
I should turn it off and paint the house, mow the lawn, tile the bathroom, paint the spare room............etc
