The styloid process of the temporal bone, is the residue of the uppermost cartilage structures found in the embryo ( apoial, basial and ceratoial cartilages), and in the adult life, there is only a band of fibrous tissue left, that joins the stylois process with the lateral tips (cornual processes) of the adult hyoid bone----cartilaginous tissue dissapears soon before birth.....
