actually the blue tang, i think your talking about the yellow tail blue hippo tang? they get to be about 12 inches in length, so that itself with your other fish is a bit too big for your tank. the yellow tang gets to be about 8 inches, as well as your longnose butterfly. those are a couple big fish for that size tank. the percula clown, and royal gramma are fine together so far, but you may want to choose between the tang and the butterfly. plus even if you put that combo in a bigger tank, i wouldnt put the tangs together, they usually have territory issues and will pick on eachother. personally the longnose is a bit on the fragile side, being they are hard to feed (if you want make sure theyre already eating at the pet store before you buy them). a 40 gal tank is big enough for 5 fish, if youd like, but its kinda hard to do the nemo combo. i would check out some more saltwater fish, and find some that look like the ones you want (yellowtail blue damsel, lemon peel angel, ect. )ones that resemble the "nemo" combo, but are of a better size to fit what you have to work with!

Again, no. Either tang and the butterfly would need a much larger tank (90-100 gallon at least), and the two tangs shouldn't be kept together. Butterflies aren't the best fish for someone just starting a marine tank - they aren't as bad as the Moorish idol, but you should have some experience with hardy fish first before you try these.

A pair of clowns, and the royal gramma would be fine for the tank, with possibly 1-3 additional small fish (depending on the adult size). You may have to go outside the "Nemo" movie to find other fish that will work out for the 40 gallon size. One of my personal favorites is the longnose hawkfish. I also like cardinalfish, especially the Bangaii cardinals. You can find info on these in the links I provided in Part I of your question.

You can keep them all together but your tangs could be a problem. They have a tendency go be aggressive toward each other. Make sure you introduce them to the tank at the same time. A 40 gal tank is no were near big enough. The only fish that would do well in a 40gal is the Basslet. They yellow tang needs at least a 100gal tank, and the Butterfly and the Blue Tang at least 70gal. You may be ok with a 120gal but with that many large fish I would go with at least a 180gal.

I'm sorry, but in a tank that size, youll have to lose nemo (pardon the pun) The fact is that these fish all together would need at least 90 gallons, and even thats pushing it. Also, if you are trying to set up a tank just for nemo, dont do it. Saltwater fish, espescially blue tangs, have almost no chance in the hands of someone who has never done any serious fishkeeping. Good luck, but lose nemo.

No..a 40 gallon is way to small.A hippo tang and yellow tang are swimmers and need a large tank to swim. These fish get very big very quick,I know i have them in a 135 gallon tank and they have doubled in size in just a few months.I would go with a 125 or larger tank..The bigger tha tank the better and bigger tanks are easier to care for.

because of the fact yellow tangs are wild animals, no longer meant to be saved captive and neither are blue hippo tangs. Blue hippo tangs do no longer stay in Hawaii the place maximum yellow tangs are captured. in case you may desire to have a saltwater tank, then please in basic terms purchase maricultured animals - in no way shop wild caught marine existence on your pastime tank.

go as big as you can afford. in a 40 gallon the tangs may fight over territory. otherwise the amount of fish should stay around 6 depending on size.

yeah all that should be fine together but just dont add it all in at once I'd buy 2 fish at a time just to avoid an ammonia spike
