The Mesoamerican ballgame[1] was a sport with ritual associations played for over 3000 years by the pre-Columbian peoples of Mesoamerica. The sport had different versions in different places during the millenia, and a modern version of the game, ulama, continues to be played in a few places by the local Amerindians.
Pre-Columbian ballcourts have been found throughout Mesoamerica, as far south as Nicaragua, and possibly as far north as Arizona.[2] These ballcourts vary considerably in size, but they all feature long narrow alleys, with side-walls against which the balls could bounce.
The rules of the ballgame are not known. Based on its likely descendent, ulama, it was probably similar to racquetball or volleyball, where the object is to keep the ball in play. The iconic stone ballcourt goals are a late addition to the game.

You were allowed to kick it.
It was just called "ball game." The Mayan Ball Game. If you want the real name in Mayan language, try asking Mel Gibson.

My dad told me the romans also played a similar game. But if you lost, you had to be put to death. So there was probably this whole new added thrill if you were the audience. Imagine that... watching a basketball game (which i wouldn't because i'm Australian...but let's say hypothetically im american for this moment) and after the chicago bulls lost, they had to be put to death. Lol. Sorry i don't know the name...

I've searched it on Google and Wikipedia, and the only name i can find for it is the Mesoamerican Ballgame.
Interesting Fact: the loser of the game was sacrificed. So much for "it's just a game"
