Is it due to the mastery of plot, use of original expressions, etc? Do you agree, if so... why?

It takes unique talent to have the ability to write entertaining and meaningful fiction, a great story. One has to be able to be creative enough to manufacture a complete and enticing story line, the story must be able to capture the reader and envelope them through the realism the story offers, and if they are able to incorporate a moral message or new ideas all the better!
Nonfiction on the other hand, depending on what it is, takes an abundant amount of knowledge and intelligence to write about a real event/person. That in itself should be applauded. But also the writer wants to make it an "enjoyable" read, so that takes exceptional writing skills as well. B
So overall, I think that nonfiction has the upper hand for being more of a challenge if I were to compare the two. One must be intellectually and creatively qualified to perform such a duty as writing nonfiction.
Historical fiction maybe is the absolute winner! But yes overall, fiction would seem to be a higher art compared to nonfiction, with the exception of autobiographies.

They're both on the same level. Comparing fiction to nonfiction is like comparing puppies to a swift kick in the face.

It's a higher art because you can put your imaginative thinking to some very hard work, as well as mastery of plot and creating you own writing style.

in fiction, you enter a whole new level of creativity.it's based on imagination and it can roam free. You can make a whole new story on the life you wished you live for example.i consider nonfiction boring cause they're usually based on facts and about old stuff.now fiction is what really lures the reader into a literary world and it gives them a better visual display
