i mean, don't we all have issues and deal with them in our own way. some of us deal with them in a more positive way and others turn to negative ways. isn't wrong to generalize one group because of what some "emo" people do?

It's just another ignorant stereotype that has run amok due to people not educating themselves about culture.

"some of us deal with them in a more positive way and others turn to negative ways." ----You're exactly right. We don't all have the same fortitude. This should be both accepted and respected.

"isn't wrong to generalize one group because of what some "emo" people do?" ----DEFINITELY! One, a few, or even MANY people DO NOT represent entire groups. We are all individuals regardless of what other people say, think, or do.

Emo=emotional and the only way people feel they can get the depressing emotions out is by cutting

Yes you don't necessarily have to be Emo to be depressed but the 2 go hand in hand

I asked my 16 yo grand-daughter what emo means. You think about cutting and commiting suicide. I know that not all cutters are suicidal, but you can understand why some people would think that. I've been a psychiatric nurse for 33 years and have worked with cutters and suicidal people. Cutting means different things to different people. It upsets people who dont know enough about it. You can help to educate those people.

...because they don't know what emo is all about and they assume cutting is done by that group alone, erroneously.
