Another GIRL QUESTION! Once agian guys will probably want to avoid this...?

Ugh...I need tampons because I cannot stand these thick pads...(and I have to have the thick because it is heavy and I don't get a lot of time to go to the restroom at school) I don't know how to ask my mom because I am very uncomfortable with this topic...It's like talking about this with my dad or something...I dunno what to do... :(

You really need to work on opening up communications between yourself and your mother. She has been there and done that on most everything before. Mom's can be a great friend if you let them. I would say there might be issues about tampons if it were 50 yrs ago (thinking it caused one to loose their virginity) but this shouldn't be an issue today. Tell her you saw them advertised on TV and would like to try them or you just say, hey mom, I really don't like these pads and want to try tampons. I can remember it like it was yesterday......one day with that pad on and I was saying the same thing.
FYI Generally Tampons absorb less than pads so if you are flowing heavy you might want to wear a pad as well for extra protection. You also need to be careful not to leave Tampons in too long before changing because this can cause problems as well. (Just read and follow the tampon insert and you should do fine) Good Luck

Next time you & your mom are in the store, when it's almost time to check out, tell her you'll be right back, and go grab some. Don't automatically go for the supers- try regulars first, then if you think you need supers, get them next time. If your mom questions you, just tell her that what you're using now isn't comfortable and you want to find what's right for you.

Tip: Get some thinner pads too. If you normally have to have the really thick pads because your flow is heavy, you'll want to use a tampon along with a thinner pad, because you don't yet know how quickly a tampon will get saturated for you. And you don't want the horror story of soaking through your pants at school to happen! Good luck!

My mom could never use tampons so I wasn't encouraged to get them. (I hate pads-it's too easy to tell they are there, even under bulky clothes, I think) I started out getting a sample from someone and than buying them from the dispenser at school until finally I'd buy them on my own. (you still might want to consider using a light day pad until your periods are more regular, just to be on the safe side. You will probably fluxuate from light to heavy and won't settle in to a routine for a while. Good luck

Try tampons, they are MADE for physical activity and are EXCELLENT.

Go find some tampons, at the nurse's office or buy some at the store. Try the thinnest lowest absorbency plastic applicator tampon.

If you have your own money, then maybe you could get them yourself... Do you have another trusted adult you could talk to? They might be able to help you talk to your mom about it... It may seem embarassing at first, but in the long run it will get better and easier to talk to her... Just know she's went through the same thing! Best wishes!

Well if you realy don't feel like talking about it with your mom (i HATE talking about it with my mom) mabey you can buy them yourself, mabey go with a friend or if your dont feel like going with a friend go alone and if you dont like paying for this stuff with the people who work there pay for it where a girl is working or even better go down to walmart and go to the self check out and do it. I know not to many people from my school shop at walmart. haha:P
