For the lady that thought this wouldbe a better question to ask rather than who cheats more, men or women. So why DOES our society seem to except it more??

our society says it doesn't accept it, but it does. My guess would be the anything to make yourself feel better at the moment to hell with anybody else attitude we have as a country.

Actually, cheating seems to be the one thing that everyone agrees is horrible....they may forgive and be silly enough to put up with it time and time again, but consistently I see at least here on YA that people abhor cheating. Now what's really kind of funny is that having babies out of wedlock is fine, marriage seems to have lost it's sacredness, divorcing and remarrying and divorcing again are all pretty much fine...abandoning children, not wanting to pay child support etc. etc.....all of that seems much more accepted on YA than cheating. Cheating is still the universal NO NO.

I think cheating is frowned upon , but it is accepted by many. Most of the guys i know who are married or commited, cheat. I don't know many man or women for that matter who don't cheat. I think its a natural thing to cheat, so its hard to not do it. I choose not to cheat, but it crosses my mind. Other women look good to men, even if we love our wives and i'm sure women are the same way, but i can only speak for men. So, i don't think its accepted, but it goes on alot and most people take their partner back , so it continues to go on.

In my opinion it isn't so much accepted as tolerated. Cheaters are selfish individuals that ought to stay single if they are going to be having extra marital affairs. You can't have your cake and eat it too. Cheating is a form of insecurity or self loathing....the feeling you can't settle with one individual at a time because you are not worthy. Cheating is pathetic for those of us who have little or no principal. How is it you can truly bare love for another human being if you are incapable of the bond of monogamy. I wouldn't share my life with a person that did not find such a subject incomperhensible!

Don't you mean "accept"?

I happen to think society does take exception to cheating.

There is a vast difference between "accept" and "except."
