Hi Third P.

Yes, it does, at least in the spiritual sense.

Philosophy tends to make me question things, such as right from wrong; morality; all the virtues & how to live a virtuous life.

I practice the teachings of Jesus Christ, first & foremost. Fitting in with His teachings, are the beliefs of Buddha, Bodhidharma, Lao Tzu, & many other great philosophers.

They all teach virtue & losing the desire for earthly things to find inner peace. They also teach us the virtues with which we can help others.

I do not have to actively think about philosophy, per se, to have it work in my life. It is always there, with every decision I have to make, in every action I take, etc.

I spend a lot of time in meditation and prayer. I study philosophy & try to become a better person in all ways. I want to spend my time helping others & making a difference in this world, however small that may be. The study of philosophy helps me to do that.

Peace.

No. Philosophy deals with absolutes, with hypotheticals. Real life is, well, real life. People just do not have the time to try to incorporate philosophy into life when you are stuck in traffic for an hour or more twice a day; the plumbing is in need of care; the car just broke down for the 10th time this year, etc.

Philosophy has a great effect on everyones life, whether they even realize it or not. Each of us -have- our own philosophy of life even if we don't stop to actually examine it. It's always there and it guides us through everything that we do.
