Alrite today i wuz home alone and was watching tv. so all of a sudden, my doorbell rings and this comcast guy is there and asks me what kind of cable i have. i told him i dont know and he said that he had to check to make sure and if it was legal and if it wasnt he would have to call the cops[i got kinda suspicious of him right there]. im 15 and i wuz home alone so i didnt want to let him in my house so i told him i would show him around back since the dish was outside anyways. so i went to the back door and was surprised there wasnt a cable car anywhere near my home. i asked the cable guy where his car was and he was like "what?". so i asked him what company he worked for and he was like "i work for comcast" n he held up his licenses thingy. So i showed him the dish and he took a couple notes down. then he just thanked for my time and left. I was wondering if i can check w/e he was a real comcast worker or was he planning to rob me or something. all answers welcome

Call comcast cable and ask to speak with the station manger and report the situation and ask for validation. You should have made that call before you let him in on your property.

Lesson learned....don't let anyone on or in your property unless you verify their affiliation with the company...period.

If he had really been with Comcast, he would already know what kind of cable you have. Sounds like a scammer and you are lucky nothing happened ~ in the future, don't answer the door. I'm home alone during the day while my husband is at work and I don't answer the door to anyone who rings unless I am expecting someone and then I check through the peephole first and ask who it is. Wrong answer and I tell them I'm not interested.

Call Comcast and find out if they are sending people out to check things like this ~ if not, they need to know so they can make the public aware. It would be good for the police to know about this if Comcast says this guy did not work for them, just so they can be aware of what is happening, too.

what form of modem do you have? what lights flow out while your cable drops? do you reside in an apt or an older living house? sounds to me like its maximum probable a sign concern, yet answering those questions will help determine it out fairly alot of intermitten problems come from modems loosing sign, and because your sign can substitute by using out the day using temperature, its in all probability the place your getting it working and then no longer working. i'd have the technician out returned...and while he tests the sign at your modem it could be between -5 and +5 any further or much less and there's a concern on your line that desires fixed in case you reside in an older living house, you could ought to flow it to a distinctive region, or have a sparkling hardwire put in. older residences have been designed earlier information superhighway and digital cable, so each outlet feeds yet another etc, till finally you get to the tip of the line and there is slightly any sign 30 years in the past that didnt rely because of the fact there become in basic terms television on the cable line, yet now theres lots stuff that demands various sign stages etc that older residences regularly want rewired...i'd say if been over 10 years on account that somebody rewired your place, its over due. apartments proportion a similar concern as older properties.

Just call the police let them check it out. This does not sound right. They do not have the right to demand entry to check your cable.
