go to the run box (windows key+r) and type cmd.
once the black box pops up, type net user (enter)
look for his username
for example, if my user was frog i would do this next
in the box type net user frog *
the star is shift 8
and then press enter, it will ask you for a password,
when you type, you cannot tell what your typing, or that you even are at all, once you're done, press enter, it will ask you to confirm, just type the password again and press enter, it will have changed now
If you are not permitted to do the cmd thing, just open up notepad, either find it in programs, or press windows key+r and type notepad, and in the notepad, type
net user
put a username after net user, if the name was frog, put
net user frog * (star is shift 8)
and save it as
pass.bat
or anything u want, just end it in .bat
open it up, and you are now in the part where you change the pass, when you type, you cannot tell what your typing, or that you even are at all, once you're done, press enter, it will ask you to confirm, just type the password again and press enter, it will have changed now
cheers☺☻☺☻, hope it works

It sounds as if you were demoted to a "Limited Account". On those settings, add/remove programs and hardware, along with some administrative components of the Control Panel are disabled. If you can't access the Control Panel at all, then it probably is a virus. Who do you contact about this? The question is, who bought the computer, and made the first account. That person might know more about what's going on. If you think you have a virus, you can do a free scan through mcafee or norton. From there you can get your own virus protection software, if necessary.

well let me reassure you that you don't have a virus. Who ever the last person was that used the computer change the settings on it, its not a virus. first off there should only be one administrator and multiple users. the administrator is the one whos supposed to take ownership of the computer and all its rights. for example only the administrator should know the passwords, can open private word documents, use the add/remove programs function. if your not the administrator it takes that option away. first thing your gonna have to do if you actually own that computer is remove all the other users. get everyone's password who's using it. then when you go into each persons sign on and go into the control panel (which ever one lets you), go to users and passwords and it will show you everyone who has a login for the computer and which ones are users and who the administrator is. remove them. and everything should return to normal. if all else fails accept responsibility for allowing someone else to use your computer inappropriately and have windows reinstalled.

LOL. :) 1. Pop off the case, set the power supply from 110 to 220, and fire it up. Used to blow several components, but these days a kick-over may be in. 2. Apply a VERY heavy magnet to the hard drive casing for at least a few hours. This will not fry the drive, though, just make boot-up message No OS. 3. Apply a soldering iron to any area on the motherboard very briefly - zap it, but don't leave scorch marks. Just a few ideas. Fun notion. :) Is this for insurance or your parents? If insurance, you don't need to go through all this. Just make the claim.

you are the admin, the best thing for you to do is wipe it, meaning put another operating system on it, sounds like you do have a virus. and if you do fix it the virus will still be there, the fact that you cant get into your control panel, is a sign of a virus and it will continue to eat more. so wipe it and move on.

Try a system restore. If that doesn't work you may have to take to the shop and get everything wiped off and your operating system reinstalled. Sounds like a virus.

If you have a Anti-Virus disk...put the disk in the drive...turn off your computer for a while. Then turn it back on and see if it will boot up using Anti-Virus program...you may still need to reset to an earlier date...before someone has entered a password code in your system.

since their are so many people that use the computer then one of them probably set the restrictions on that computer....if you have windows xp professional..then go to start, click run, and type in gpedit.msc and that will bring up the admin window, on the left hand side you will see administrative restrictions..now if you get this far..e-mail me...but if you have other windows versions (xp home) then you cant access this because it cant be set up with a domain....
hope this helps and if you have other questions, feel free to e-mail me

try this at the run command spot in the start menu type regedit to get into the registry
and go to
Hive: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\LanManServer\Parameters
Name: AutoShareWks
Value: 0
right click on auto share works and modify the value from 0 to 1 this will re enable the administavie shares and restart your comp this should give all users administrator permisions and if that doesnt work you may have to restart your comp in safemode and follow the intructions on this site on how to take ownership on your comp its a huge pain in the ***.
and if that still doesnt work you might have to re-install windows.
hope this helps

Oh my goodness, it was really a mess!! Bet you have to restore the whole system with the restore-disk.
After the restoration, if everything runs great you need the antivirus, antispy, firewall to protect your computer. Good Luck to you!
