It's for my mom. I called a couple of places, but they have waiting lists that are years long. How do I get a whole list of places so that I can call all of them?

Another place that I haven't seen listed on here yet, and they are the HUD outlet for Choice Vouchers, formerly known as Section 8, is the Housing Authority of Alameda County, which I believe is the county your looking in.

If she can qualify for this, her rent would only be 30% of her Social Security. This is a really good deal. I can't wait for this, myself.

Also, check with your Agency on Aging. The National Hotline is 1-800-510-2020 and your call will be directed to the office in your area. They will know what rentals are for Seniors specifically or they will refer you to the Housing Agency if they don't offer this service.

Good Luck. And thanks for your caring attitude for your Mom.

Affordable is the key word in the bay area. You need to find a senior center in the area and ask their help. They will assist and also put her in contact with HUD for assistance with the rent. My daughter rents one bedroom apartments in the bay area for around $1500 per month and Social Security doesn't pay that much. Her apartments are full all the time.

I also checked the yellow pages. Two that I found DO NOT have web sites. Remember that.

This is one of the highest rent
areas in the country!!! Why
does she have to be in this
area?
If you look at Sacramento
valley area towns or the
eastern foothills, you would
probably find lower rents.
