this should be faster than hooking it up to a computer then from computer to ps3 wouldnt it?

i am already wireless, but i just want my ps3 connection to be faster so i was thinking about getting another modem and connecting the ps3 directly to it and can you do this?

Yes, you can run an ethernet cable from your cable modem directly to your PS3. If you have a computer in your household, typically, you would purchase a router, run an ethernet cable from the modem to the router, and two more ethernet cables - one from the router to the PS3 and one from the router to the computer. Of course you wouldn't need the ethernet cable if you decided to go wireless.

Yep, that's how i have my Ps3 set up, and it works great. Just dont expect things like PlaystationStore downloads or system updates to be any faster.
