I bought my daughters halloween costumes yesterday. They cost like 50 bucks! On the back of the recipt it says that you can return things for up to 90 days after your purchase, as long as it still has the tags on it. I was thinking I could just tuck their tags in and take them trick or treating. That way I can return them after halloween is over, and get my money back. Rules are rules right? They are only going to wear them once. I think it's smart, but dad says it's toooo ghetto. What do you think?

Would I wear something thats been worn before? HELL YEAH! Don't you people know that you get 15% off defective merchandise. Have you people never heard of platos closet? Besides, all of your clothes have probably been tried on by at least ten people before you bought it. Have you never heard of a washing machine?

Stealing? Maybe if I shoplifted the items, and then took them back to get money for them, then that would be stealing. I'm simply giving them back their merchandise, and getting back my money. Sounds like a even trade to me!

If they didn't expect people to wear the stuff, then why would they give you 90 days to return it?

People please stop hating! You're just mad cause you didn't think of if it. You're all pissed because you just realized that you have been wasting your money on halloween costumes that will only be worn for an hour.

I don't care if they know that my kids wore the costumes. I will tell them myself that they were worn! A policy is a policy. The customer is always right. I work in a department store, and I have seen people return shoes that are brown, and suppose to be white. We are not allowed to tell them no, because of our store policy. Rules are rules!

I see what you mean haha. Forget what everyone says on this one. They're stupid and their pride is wayyyyy too high for a situation like this. Thats dumb. lol Go for the gold. Shes a princess with or without the costume. The idea is so clever that it would be stupid NOT to do it

I think it's really low class to do something like that..it's sort
of like stealing. Someone else will always know these were
worn. I have a clothing boutique and in 30 years only one
person tried that on me...It means that you have to lie and
if you don't think that will affect your self confidence, think
again. The worst part of it is, you're involving your
children in a scam. This is where they learn that cheating
someone is OK and sets them up for a sorry life. What
are you going to say when they ask where the costumes
are? How can you explain this kind of behavior to them
with a good conscience?

That is setting such a good example as a mother don't you think? I really like that you associate the term " ghetto" with dis honest human beings like your self! It is a terribly sad scenario that you wouldn't just help them make a costume to teach them the value of a dollar if you cannot afford particularly expensive materials. My dear ghetto is derived from a style of living NOT stealing!

Not only ghetto but illegal as well. Not a really good lesson to teach you children. You can possibly sell them next Halloween and get some of you money back. That's a much more honest thing to do!

Girl, you know its ghetto! Most places have a disclaimer for holiday merchandise though. You may want to go back to the store and check to see if you see a sign. They won't print it on the receipt - and that's just dirty.... I know my Wal-mart has a disclaimer - you can't return halloween items after 10/31 .... So check and make sure!

That is low. You should just return them now and buy cheaper ones if $ is a problem. In a way it is stealing to do what you are going to do. The return policy is if it doesn't fit, you don't like it on your kid, your kid doesn't like it, ect. NOT BECAUSE YOU AE CHEAP! IS this really the example you would like to set for your children? Your father is right, listen to him. He does know what he is talking about! I don't really like to use the term 'ghetto' but if you must....'Yes, it deffinitly is!'
Would you want to wear a used dress? The costumes will be sweaty and sticky. EW!

I think that you should make your own costumes. I have never ever bought a entirely store-bought costume. Either my mother sewed it when i was little or I pieced it together from my own clothes, art and thrift stores. Who wants a costume that everyone else is wearing anyway! It's just advertising...!
Hey, it's cheap and no one will look like your kids do! What could go wrong! I'd shop separately for items.
By the way I have always had compliments on my handmade costumes... they were awesome!
What is actually "ghetto" is parents who send their kids out in their ordinary clothes! I wouldnt give them candy.
"What are you dressed up as this year sweetie"?

i don' t think that it would be ghetto. i just think that you made the mistake of paying $50 for a costume. take them back before halloween and make your kids costumes with the money you have left. or better yet, let your kids help you make the costumes. i think they will like that more than a costume from a store.
