I understand your feeling that way, I feel the same way. I don't think there will be anyone running that I can vote for! I would really like to be able to vote for someone rather than against the other person. As it seems now, I cannot vote for either front running candidate. Politics has degenerated so far now, that an honest, intelligent person of integrity cannot win.
The media, both Cons and Libs, are as responsible as anything else for the decline. It's all very discouraging.

First of all, nowhere in the constitution is there a provision set forth giving us the right to vote. It's just not there. Voting is a privelege, not a right. In all honesty, I don't think some people should be able to vote... If you can't be bothered to learn how your government works, or if you can't be bothered to form an opinion before you get to the polls, then you should have no right to vote. If you can't figure out how to punch a hole in a ballot, you should have no right to vote. If you can't understand the difference between a democracy and a republic, you should have no right to vote.
Furthermore, I can't see how anyone in their right mind can choose not to form a political opionion, politics being something that has such a profound effect on every aspect of our lives. Apathy is a major reason why we've got such crappy people in office right now.
If you don't believe me, consider this... why would politicians and their promoters stand outside the doors to the local polling center if they didn't think they could influence votes at the last minute? Note, by influence I mean hand you a snazzy pen or a neat little button as you're walking through the door.
If you're so stupid that you can't make up your mind before you go in, and your vote's determining factor is a cute little lapel pin or a smiley face sticker, then you really have no business being there. Unfortunately, there's no lack of stupid in this world.

It is a democratic right to choose whether or not you want to be an active voter.
However, it is also a civil liberty that you shouldn't take for granted. In some parts of the world, they don't have the opportunity to elect a leader. Not many years ago, certain races and females could not vote.
Your vote could have pushed Gore or Kerry into the whitehouse, and Iraq may never have happened. Just think about that next time you have the opportunity to mark your 'x' and think it is a waste fo time.

As an American citizen, you have the right to vote - or not vote. Yeah, it's OK. I personally believe the lack of voter turn-out is directly cause by the lack of viable candidates. Voters say, "I'd rather not vote for the lesser of two evils, so I'll not vote for anyone." That was evidenced in 1992 when H. Ross Perot, a political 'outsider', captured 19% of the popular vote. I think voters are looking for good candidates - and can't find those kinds of people in the line-up presented by the "Republicrats". -RKO- 10/17/07

If you truely have no interest in politics, Please don't vote. That would be absurd.
Think of it as a way to express your hopes and plans for the country you live in. If you're ok letting others decide for you...then let them- that is your right. Remember, politics is not for the meek...it takes alot of studying and thinking about issues until you come to a conclusion you are comfortable with. Vote when you can explain your stand to someone and back it with facts. That's how you'll know you did your best research and understand what's going on.

If you care about the future and what direction your nation takes, you should care about politics. I can relate to the feeling that "it's a waste of time". Far too often politicians are self serving, or cater to corporate lobbyists at the expense of their constituents.
At the very least, if you do care, you should make an effort to stay aware of what is going on and discuss with others the issues you feel strongly about .

Dirty game - politics.
Here in my country it is a circus, I don't want to be one of the clowns either. You could have - or should have - spent those years on more fruit full things. One teeny example - Many from other countries are giving food to the children who are dying from hunger, while the big chiefs have billions in that same country where the children have no food....?!
So yeah, I think it is ok.

I highly recommend that you do not vote. I used to vote, but I stopped. And I especially believe that if you have no interest in politics, then voting is the last thing that you should do.

Well, the fact is, it depends on how you approach it. If you consider the issues carefully, and make your decisions thoughtfully, then no, it is not ok to not vote, it's our constitutional right and we should use it. If, however, you do not endeavor to have a basic understanding of facts and do stupid things like voting for George Bush, then yes, it is quite alright if you do not vote.

large, large, could be an illustration that we don't care anymore, a lose of activity. yet being respectful is powerful sufficient. Democracy works ideal as quickly as we are in touch and committed sufficient to stand up for our ideals.
