Guild Wars: Eyes of the North is the only true expansion for Guild Wars.

You need at least ONE of the following to play it:
1. Guild Wars: Prophecies (Sometimes called just Guild Wars.)
2. Guild Wars: Factions
3. Guild Wars: Nightfall
Each of these is a stand-alone game. You don't need Prophecies to play Factions or Nightfall. You also don't HAVE to have Prophecies to play GW:EN, as long as you have at least one of the other two games instead.

To access the content of GW:EN you also need a character that is level 20. ONLY level 20 characters can enter the GW:EN content.

As for which Guild Wars to get:
1. Prophecies is related to GW:EN story-wise, it occurs on the same continent as GW:P and they have a character in common. However, GW:P is the slowest to give levels so it will take quite a bit of game play to reach level 20.
2. Nightfall has the fastest leveling of the three and the entrance to GW:EN from Nightfall is next to the starting town. This means you can get to GW:EN faster from Nightfall then you could from the other games.
