The maker of fusible beads has designed them to be used with the ironing paper they provide (sell) and there is no other substitute is currently available.

Some people have said they have good results with fusible webbing from the fabric store, and butcher paper, but I have found them to be cumbersome and expensive.

I have provided a link to an ironing paper supplier.

It's not wax that's on the "waxy" paper... it's probably silicone. Silicone is highly resistant to heat and also almost nothing sticks to it.

There are various other things you could try that use similar coated papers or sheeting, etc.

...either the thin sheets of silicone alone, or the silicone-coated paper sheets, that are sold at fabric stores and/or in kits for adhering decals and things to t-shirts with an iron
....this may be the same stuff that's sold to use with large sheets of fusible webbing

...the sheets that come behind self-adhesive stamps

...parchment papers that are silicone coated

....never tried this, but possibly thick paper sprayed with Armor-All (which is silicone), then dried??

You may also be able to just put the beads in the oven turned on low for awhile (though if you're using the plastic spikes holder, that might not be the same type of plastic and could stick or melt) to allow the beads to soften slightly and stick together... remove carefully and cool.
In that case you might want to put the beads themselves onto something that would be okay in the heat and would also not stick to the beads (or which could be popped off easily) -- like perhaps a metal baking sheet or a sheet of glass, or piece of aluminum foil on top of one of those.

Good luck!

I have a silicone pressing cloth made by June Taylor. I got mine at Joann's craft store. Its on the notions wall, in a
little 5" x 5" package, that packaging is blue and purple. It is made to use with iron on fusable web, and that wont stick to it, AND its reusable.
