"You know, I'm going to start thanking the woman who cleans the restroom in the building I work in. I'm going to start thinking of her as a human being."

Can conservatives provide what Hillary said before and after this?

Or will conservatives ignore the question and just cite right-wing websites and books without putting the quote in context?

SO FAR NOTHING.

CONS ARE JUST AVOIDING THE QUESTION.

I am not a conservative, but the quote is cited on various right-wing websites as coming from "The Case Against Hillary Clinton" by Peggy Noonan, p. 55.

It is a grossly misleading use of a "quote," having come from a larger 1993 New York Times magazine piece (interview by Michael Kelly) where she is offering it as a hypothetical example of what someone else might think to himself/herself.

Here's what was said in the magazine piece.

"If you break down the Golden Rule or you take Christ's Commandment - Love thy neighbor as thyself - there is an underlying assumption that you will value yourself, that you will be a responsible human being who will live by certain behaviors that enable you to have self-respect, because, then, out of that self-respect comes the capacity for you to respect and care for other people.

And how do we just break this whole enterprise down in small enough pieces? Well, somebody says to themselves: 'You know, I'm not going to tell that racist, sexist joke. I don't want to objectify another human being. Why do I want to do that? What do I get out of that kind of action? Maybe I should try to restrain myself.'

Or maybe somebody else says: 'You know, I'm going to start thanking the woman who cleans the restroom in the building that I work in. You know, maybe that sounds kind of stupid, but on the other hand I want to start seeing her as a human being.'"

Hmmm... none so far, just poor dodging lol.

While I may a skeptic, I am not cynical, I would like to see a source for that quote.

EDIT: Dave gets best answer lol!

Hmmm, looks like they took the quote out of context. I guess it's just fine when the right does it, but if Bill-O were to be misquoted , oh noes!!!!!!

You know I don't like Hillary and I most definitely will not be voting for her so no, I don't know what she said before or after this statement. What I want to know is what did she think of this cleaning lady before. I mean did she think she wasn't a human being? Just goes to show you that if you take speeches out of context you can make anyone look bad. Democrats are very good at taking things out of context and blowing these phrases into gigantic proportions.

very good question, because if ANYONE were to say this, I would believe that they actually cared about the people around us doing the "small" jobs and getting no credit or thanks...thanks as in a living wage and a secure life with some sort of protection from catastropic events....the medical community in America is big business and does not care about anyone falling throught he cracks and yet it is supported by all of us through insurance and government patent protection...It the biggest money making venture of this era....will it come down to a system of only the rich getting decent care....it already has

I don't like Hilery that much, but I'd vote for her over any Republican with his hat in the ring
