My Mom used to ask people "Do you want to take your coat off so you won't get cold when you go outside ? " . That never made sense to me . Did my Mom's question have any basis in reality ? Is this an old wives' tale ? Have anym of you ever heard of this before ? If you wear your coat inside, do you get cold when you go outside ?

no yuo cant' get a cold from being out in the cold without a coat on. getting a cold is from the germs in the air or getting it from someone else. not because of the tempurature outside.
