The module is mounted below the master cylinder on the fender well and has brake lines going to it.

The speed sensors are mounted behind each wheel rotor on the suspension.

anti- lock brakes receives information from a sensor on the wheel spindle bearings overriding driver inputs by pulsing the brakes many times per second. This prevents the brakes from being locked up causing the inertia of the car to create an uncontrollable skid, when this happens it is impossible to steer the vehicle. The wheels must be allowed to rotate at least minimally if steering control is to be maintained. The driver of a car with anti-lock brakes simply places all the pressure they can on the brake pedal and continues to steer, you will feel the brake pedal pulsing when the system is active. There are pros and cons to the system...maintenance etc. A driver of a vehicle without the anti-lock system must alternately apply and release the brakes to obtain the same results, this may be something that many drivers are unable to do in a panic situation. Tests have indicated that the driver with anti-lock brakes can stop in a shorter distance while maintaining directional control. General Motors pioneered the system with being the inventor of the system.

The wheel speed sensors are located at the wheel and measure the speed of the wheel. This information then goes via an electrical wire to the control module.
This information together with other information (how hard the driver is pressing the brake pedal) is then processed by the control module. The control module will then adjust the pressure of the brake-fluid that goes via a brake-line (pipe) to the wheel and in doing so will control how much this wheel will brake.
