I didn't vote for him nor do I approve of most of his policies I may even occasionally question his intelligence, however I believe he is a good man doing the best he can in a difficult situation. American presidents are elected to a four year term with 2 terms being the limit. They cannot be removed simply because they are unpopular. They can be impeached if they commit some felony, or high misdemeanor. Once he is retired from public office he will probably be highly regarded. A presidents status rises from politician statesman when they return to private life.

In the American System We elect our presidents for a period of 4 years at a time, and barring extreme circumstances, they will serve out that term until it is complete.
Unlike the British parliamentary system, where at any time yo can have a vote of no confidence and have another election to elect the new majority party and then let the party decide who is the prime minister.
So yes, currently Bush's approval rating are dismal somewhere around 25%, but 3 years ago they weren't so bad, so he was reelected.
So now even with his low approval rating he will remain in office until the new elections are held next year he will remain in office despite his approval ratings.

Many people dislike him. Many hate him. Some love him.
But in the US -- unlike the UK -- a simple vote of no confidence is not enough to remove the chief executive -- the process here requires impeachment, which is a trial -- and also very tied up in partisan politics, so the outcome is not based just on whether he did anything wrong.

Since this question is asked at least twice a day, you could have just read the answers.
I think it's a prerequisite for newbies or something.
Many people may not like Bush but you can't get rid of a President because you don't like him.

Our family likes the leadership of President Bush, even if we don't agree with every decision he makes. He makes a strong stand for moral and ethical values that benefit our country, and we respect him for this. Even if we don't always agree with him we will still respect him because he is our leader.

President Bush is a good man and a fine leader. I had the privilege to vote for him twice.

He is still president because we have a governing body that is for the most part ineffective. On the other hand who would want the VP to take over? I shudder to think.

Bush is an obstinate fool. His buddy, Carl Rove was able to put together a coalition of single issue voters such as the gun lobby, Evangelical Christians, business owners, anti tax (for any reason) groups, and the just plain stupid.

He is the greatest president to serve since Ronald Reagan. His popularity soared after 9/11 but the republican party started to disintergrate after that.
When speaker Tom "the hammer" Delay stepped down the armor was pierced and the democrats and the main stream media started to attack Republicans to no end. There was so much bad press that most people don't even know why they hate Republicans and President Bush.
