Question

How come you never hear anyone say there a Black Russian, or European Korean, or Chinese Brazilian?

I mean I think America is the only place that dose that.. i.e. African Americans, Mexican Americans, so forth and so on.

I dont think you guys understand im saying.. no other country dose that except america.. and have you ever thought about why.. Im not braggin .. im just sayin thats something to think about.

America takes pride in being 'the melting pot' of the world - yet they are quick to label everything & everyone. If it was truly about pride- everyone would be celebrated & respected. Not labeled & catagorized.

I do not like the term "African American" or anything American. The only Americans are the Natives.

I'm content with being called black. If someone is from Jamaica, they are black but looking at us you don't think hey, that woman is African American and that one is Jamaican.

I have traveled all over the world and we do seem to be the only people that have to have a label on everything.

This is the only country where thats a debate.

In England and other countries in Europe people aren't expected to wrap themselves in the flag of their new country and hyphenate their nationality.

In America there's this pride (sometimes false) where people feel it necessary to tack on "American" to whatever else they are. And sometimes forfeit their previous country. You can live here, be Irish, Italian, Somalian, Korean and be an American citizen without losing your heritage its just theres a lot of pressure to become "American" once youre here.
