Can she get a new phone for free? Does it have to be the same model, or can we get the new model that recently came out? By the way, we're under Verizon.

is the phone under warranty? If so I would contact Verizon and see if they can replace the phone. General you would get the same kind of phone unless it is no longer made. In that case they would most likely give you the upgrade.

Generally physical damage, even if by accident, breaks the warranty on the phone. If she had insurance, she can make a claim and get a new phone. If she has to buy a replacement then she should be able to get the new phone, but she will probably have to pay full price for it or take out a new contract renewal for a discount which would be affected by her current contract/upgrade elegibility.

Under verizon and the phone is in good condition(no water stains, major scratches, parts missing), you can go to a local store and get the phone sent back to have it replaced.
