Not being racist or anything, but in most urban areas they dont play football or baseball because it's too expensive of a sport. And they normally have one or two basketball courts in every block, so they get alot of practice with good players. So all they need for basketball, is a basketball, so it's cheap and all around them so thats why most of good

There are lots of theories. One being that b-ball is an inexpensive sport to play...and many of the top pro players come from a poor background and admit to picking up the sport out of necessity. Kids need athletics and if they cannot afford to join expensive leagues they will adapt and find something else that lets them get involved. I work in a hihg-crime, low-income neighbourhood and from what I can tell with the kids is that there isn't alot of options open to them....either play sports or get into trouble.
Secondly, many of the taller players may have heritage lines that link them to various tribes and areas of Africa where the folks are naturally tall. I think its Sulu tribe? Anyone? Anyways, this advantage of genetics allows them to succeed at b-ball where it may be more difficult for a shorter guy.
Boxing is another good example of how poverty can somewhat determine the look of the sport. Back in the 1800's it was the Irish who were on top of the sport....they were also on the lowest rung of the social ladder. Next came the Italians around the 20's - 40's and you cooincidentally had many Italian champions around that time. Since the 50's or so its been blacks and hispanics just as this social barometer might indicate.
......just a thought

It is because they practice in street basketball thats why they become good. For me, street basketball can be a really big factor in becomeing a good basketball player with all the moves and stuff..

because of their agressive nature. not being racist or anything but when you have that agressiveness and you put that on the basketball court it'll come easier. but not all black people have that for example guys coming from africa, you dont really see anybody get up that high or as agressive as african-americans. i think its just has to do with having that agressiveness in you so i dont really think its a black or white thing. and of course guys who really make it to the league are the guys who practices and works hard
