What can I use to keep the multiple stray cats in my area from pooping/digging in my landscaping? I have tried different types of mulches, the hose, red pepper, moth balls, critter ridder, orange oil and plastic forks and none work. I also have a 125 lb. dog. I don't want to pay for cages and they will just put them to sleep anyway if I catch them and bring them to the pound. Any other suggestions that haven't already been mentioned in this forum?

You can try putting up chicken wire. I know it sounds like a lot of work but you have pretty much done everything I that I would have done.

Keep it wet and muddy. Cats hate mud. It drives them nuts to feel it squishing up between their toes. And, hit them with a spray of water if they come around. They might get the message that they're unwanted. Also, let your dog do his sinful, dirty business in there. The cats will recognize it's his territory.

In California, anyway, it's also legal to "relocate" a stray cat instead of taking it to the pound. If you can trap the cat, take it on a drive for about 10 miles and find some place to let it go.

Chicken manure works for some cats (and people). You can get it from a garden center.

cats hate anything that is uncomfortable and/or sharp.
I put down gravel in between my plants or spread them over the lawn until they get the message!!

Claymore mines are an all time favorite of mine.
