This question is for those who really despise the U.S and it's policies.Remember, previous generations have sacrificed their lives so you can denegrade this county. Would you also sacrifice so that future generations would have the same freedoms you do.

I believe I would. I grew up believeing that there are some things that are more impportant than self. But then I grew up with a dad who was a career Marine, fought in WWII, Korea and Viet Nam. I volunteered for the Corps even though he was exempt at the time.

Lets break this down a bit shall we?

1) I'm guessing by "despise the US" what you really mean, are those who "disagree with you about what is best for our country"

Get a dictionary, one does NOT equal the other.

2) If my country proved that it didn't put the interests of rich elite above the interests of the many, if my country proved that it cared about the equal rights that should be granted to everyone, no matter if they live in our country or not, if it proved that it was standing for that which it claims to stand for, then yes...as long as the conflict was a just one, I'd give my life.

HOWEVER, what I would NOT do is take up a weapon and hurt someone else. I'd be happy to help as a nurse or medical aide of some sort to those who were injured or dying from whatever conflict on both sides, but I would not participate in any violence myself. But if whatever I was doing to help and serve required me to be put at risk ,I would still do it.

It is pretty easy for people to say they would die for their country, knowing this is just yahoo.

Most people would fight to protect the US if they felt we were threatened. This goes for all political parties.

The country came together after 9/11 for just that reason. When push comes to shove, just about everyone living here, has some love for this country. (even if they don't like all the actions of our government)

On the other hand, most people are not willing to die for a war they do not believe benefits the country, or the world.

And don't kid yourself into thinking the soldiers who gave their lives for this country did it happily. They may have been very brave, but they would rather be alive with their families, then to have all the praise in the world from the living.

Wouldn't it depend on the circumstances. Saying it unconditionally like you did means what if our country decides to kill all the Jews in our country like the Nazis did in WW 2 are you willing to die for your country then. That's what this country is all about making that decision for yourself and what causes you will die for not what causes you think other people should be willing to die for.

Nope. I really hate to say it, but you know what? I really don't care if people hate me for it. I think we desperately NEED war on OUR SOIL. Perhaps we'd be a little more appreciative and grateful for what WE, as Americans, have.

I probably wouldn't, but that might be because I wasn't born here. (I lived in Canada until I was 11.)
