I'm just curious. How come when it comes to shopping things for the baby it's always the mom that picks out the cute silly stuff? I'm not being stereotypical I'm just realizing this.
I designed baby t-shirts in college and my I love daddy shirts always sold but never my i love mommy shirts. I'm assuming the moms were the ones buying them. In the store i work we have silly baby shirts and it's always moms looking at the shirts, next to never dads. Plus whenever I go shopping for my niece my mom and I are always thinking how cute one thing is for her while my dad and brother keep thinking, she's in infant she's not going to care.
I'm just curious why is that?

At the store I work the shirts say sill things like "My dad rocks" "My Dad's a geek". sometimes the dad's are so freaked out about it they return them.

Because females care about what they look like in clothes, where men rarely do

The few baby/kids cloths that y husband has picked out for our kids were cool- not cute. Like 80's concert t-shirts or hoodies with skateboard logos on them; and mostly he shops on line.

not really sure my fiance is the opposite. i'm always having to say no he doesn't need anything else that size. he loves picking things out for our son. it's funny actually, he always says he doesn't want to go to the store and once we are there he is always the one picking the stuff up and i turn around and he has a bunch of stuff in his hands that he wants to get. my guy likes to shop though so maybe that is why.

It's the opposite here- my husband loves to shop- and is always bringing home something for the baby- some cute outfit, etc. Whereas, I go when she is outgrowing her stuff or about to...just a reverse here. We laugh about it all the time...I hate to shop, hate it!

Well it's true, the infant doesn't care at all. Do you remember what you were wearing when you were a few months old?
The only reason women do this is for themselves, too caught up with appearances.

Yes, I think you're being stereotypical. First off, that's not always true. I've seen lots of dads buy 'silly' outfits for their kids.
Secondly, what's silly to you apparently isn't silly to other people.
Live and let live. If it bothers you that bad, don't look.

Being a new father, I have to disagree with what you said. I do believe that probably more men are into sports and cars then their babies's clothes, but there are also those of us who are very involved in the babies's lives no matter if it's feeding or dressing them.
Men and women are just different genetically and how can you expect them to behave the same way? Maybe you should talk to the men you know with this ignorant attitude and ask them why that is?

Considering that men think it's a chore to go shopping for themselves, it's a double dreaded chore to shop for someone else - especially for an infant. I mean, it's gotta fell funny for them to be browsing through clothes in the baby isle - my husband says it's more awkward than buying lingeree for me. Who knows, men are wierd.
