this is hard! but it works really well. If your doing acting, singing, or danceing, or all 3

get 3 people you know and do a _________ 4 them. if you get really confident you can do it for any stranger who will listen. Your auditioning for strangers at ur audition anyway so there is not too much of a difference. This takes COURAGE. Good Luck. This was a tough one because i am never shy but i did use this method once for my first audition. I got in!

Your shyness is not the problem. The problem is how you approach acting. If you interview all right, but are only shy when perforing, you need to read a book called How to Stop Acting in which Glenn Close talks about how she got over her shyness and into the characteer. This book is the absolutly latest in how successful actors act nowadays.

You CAN'T be "self-conscious" when you Act- because the person you're "playing"- ISN'T !!! So if you're GOING to be an Actor, you have to LEARN to "Be" the person you're playing. Remember; when you Audition, the Agency isn't really looking at YOU, they're looking at the Role. So GET OVER Yourself- & SHOW them how WELL you can BE- someone ELSE! Good Luck! :)

It doesn't matter what PEOPLE THINK OF YOU,

that's your fear--being yourself.

I can barley sing, and hey I've gotten WAY better just practicing with a voice teacher,

wouldn't have done it if I was so shy.

I do acting (on stage)

and I'm NEVER shy, I'm sorry, I LOVE the stage,

but I used to get really shy too a long while back,

and I regret every moment I didn't do what my HEART told me to do.

Do EXACTLY what deep inside of YOU, your HEAD, your SELF tells you to do, and don't regret.

Good luck =]

It can help to just prepare a bit beforehand. Think about what you'd like to tell them about yourself, what accomplishments you have that you are proud of, what goals you have for yourself/career/training/education, things like that. Think of questions you'd like to ask them - about how their agency works, what type of actors they usually represent, how those individuals interviewing you got their start in their field, etc. Write all of these things down so you have some time to really think about them and absorb them. Having questions to ask is very helpful in making conversation with someone you don't know well. You can do this same type of thing when meeting people in other everyday situations - think ahead of topics to talk about or ask about. People love to talk about themselves! Ask about what projects they are currently working on. I am rather shy myself, but I am making a career for myself as a stage director anyway. The more you just convince yourself to start up a conversation, the easier it continues to get.

It would probably be best if you started out small insted of going strait to T.V. do some school drama and local plays before you do something bigger. This can build you up and help with your shyness. Try to be bigger and louder
(Probably most important is to believe in your self and and confidence.)

Practice in the mirror and feel good about yourself. If you have friends, then ask them to cheer you up.
