I'm thinking of anti-feminists who use words like "equity feminist" vs. "gender feminist", equalist, and masculinist when they complain about feminists or feminism.

It looks to me like a signal that the person is not going to ask or argue or discuss something in good faith.

When I read someone using these words in here it usually looks to me like they are trying to distract and decieve and fool people into thinking that they are trying to be fair. Or try to pretend that what they are saying is not sexist or hating on feminists when it is.

What does it look like to you?

There are many types of Feminists, Sigy. There's Marxist-Feminists, Socialist Feminists, Radical Feminists, Pro-Sex Feminists, Anti-Sex Feminists, and so on.
They even disagreed a lot amongst themselves during the 2nd wave up until now. Most Feminist theory is not seeking equity, although the ideology does. Some Feminists only participate in equitable solutions, and these tend to be more egalitarian in their beliefs, which is refreshing to see these types of Feminists.

There's a lot to learn, to find your niche. Read up and Good luck. You can never learn too much.

Edit: 6 thumbs down? Oh, I get it... this question was supposed to be anti-male sentiment, instead wanting the actual answer to your question. So, I'll takeback my correct textbook answer(that you would learn in Women's Studies in college) and simply say "Bad Men. Bad Men."

Feminists on G&WS are forever announcing that "not all feminists are alike" and yet when at attempt is made to differentiate between the different forms of feminism by a non-feminist, you take exception.

Simply put, it appears to me that you are simply reacting in the typical feminist manner in this regard, which is to say if a feminists states something, it is correct but when a non or anti-feminists says the same thing, it is wrong.

Think of it this way: if someone is a "politician", saying they are "republican" or "democrat", "libertarian" or even "independent" are simply ways of denoting a more specific understanding of their views. Denoting feminists as "equity" or "gender" feminists is just defining the extent of their anti-male bigotry.

That's what it looks like to me as well. That's exactly what it is. There is not a thing wrong with the ideology of feminism. If some want to claim that certain feminists misinterpret the goals, then I can go along with that, but to try to dismiss it as if it's inherently flawed is either sexist or just plain ignorant to the truth. Like spoiled children, they have created their own "movement" or new terms based on resentment, a knee-jerk reaction to a legitimate cause, and hate.

Truthfully though, "masculinists" and "equity feminists" are quite scarce outside of the internet.

There are many men in this world, that do not want to see the Feminist movement grow, To them that growth results in their loss of power within thier Interaction of the relationship.

(jonmcn49) attempted the old " If you can't convince them with knowledge, Dazzle them with B.S." He is trying to introduce variables into the issue ,with one purpose in mind Divide, and Conquer.

Do not worry about those men as they will never learn to accept a woman as their equal , But Remember that women in different ethic groups, religions and social economic levels. Feminist issues may be much different than yours ,depending on the treatment by the males / culture within their groups.

A lot of the anti-feminist men on here will site cases of a whacked out woman that might claim to be a feminist doing something evil to men and use that as an excuse to stereotype all feminists as evil man haters. It also gives them an excuse to claim to be victims, although they claim feminists whine about being victims. They have many of the faults they claim feminists have, but they are unable or unwilling to see this.

There is a difference in equity feminism and the incoherence of gender feminism. I work with female scientists who call themselves feminists, but are outraged as I am when science is attacked by these post-modern, relativistic and scientifically ignorant ideologues.

It looks like to me that you are an confused young woman. An attack, or a defense against the incoherent wing of feminism is not " weasel wording ", whatever that is. I would look carefully for those really distracting and deceiving, if I were you. Most scientists I know find much of feminist " theory " too vapid even to be wrong.

Rio. It is not a dichotomy, but a overlay of feminist positions; some more. coherent than others. Divisions are within the movement.
Also, "gender roles " have no empirical support, but are assertions of sociology. Sexual displays of behavior have varied as many times as the social environment varies, but we are not in a play and sexual behavior is ultimately evolved to maximize reproductive benefits to the organism. So, do not look for a dichotomous differentiation here, either.

You know my purpose, Daniel F.? It is to bring the truth of rationalism and empirically supported theory into the darkness that is this site. The BS is truly yours, as equality is every right thinking persons goal. " Introduce variables? " This bit of incoherent drivel makes me think you are not of the " right thinking " people.

Terms like "equity feminist" and "gender feminist" are meant to divide the movement. Real feminists are about equity AND ending strict gender roles.
