Historically, or right now? Historically, the Monroe and Wilson Doctrines, and their predecessor Manifest Destiny were all definitively imperialistic. Currently, we aren't big on taking on new colonies. We don't do that anymore.

Territorial acquisition? I can't think of anything recent - you'd have to give me some examples of countries or colonies that America has acquired of late.
