Im installing my 12" Bosch sliding compound miter saw on a Ridged portable work stand. Im sceptical about using the whinny mounting screws that Ridgid supplies to hold saw in place. Does anyone have this kind of set up, and give some advise.

There is little stress on screws /bolts . You are just putting pressure on handle while saw dose work . As long as its tight you are fine. We use a sliding compound miter saw at work and use some planks and horses. And screw down with dry wall screw.(most saws have 3/16 th-1/4 hole so they are not worried about it.) In 20 yrs none has come loose or broke. As long as tight its fine. Its a stability thing

But for a buck make yourself happy and get some heavier ones.

Without wanting to insult to YOU certainly, or your opinion of the quality or the RIDGID hardware, just replace the hardware with something you feel more substantial.

Again, and with no offense there are standards that have to be met in an inspection/testing process. The BRAND NAME BTW, doesn't guarantee that any components weren't manufactured in CHINA,,,etc. (no offense to the Chinese)

I want desperately to assume RIDGID doesn't want multiple law suits for SCREW/BOLT failure. Certaianly Machine thread bolts come in various sizes and substances; just switch them out, and LOL get back to work...:) no offense

if they look whinny then go to home depot or whatever hardware store and get the strongest screws you can afford

i would switch out any screws or bolts that looks weak, i had too many broken parts to tell
and it's not possible to fix after they break, so better safe then sorry
