I got a speeding fine roughly 3 months after the 'offence'. It worried me that there was a speeding trap I had missed for roughly 12 weeks!

in UK it's 2 weeks. Note they only have to process the paperwork and get it in the post with reasonable expectation of delivery before the time-out. If it arrives a day or so late you are still liable unless it's dated more than 2 weeks after the alleged offence.

usually 2 weeks and did you know they sometimes offer you a speed awareness course ~ this means you go on a 6hr course, pay £87.50 and dont get any points ~ I did it not so long ago, was doing 37 in a 30 zone ~ the course is quite good 3hrs talking and doing discussions and 3hrs driving with an instructor[ usually someone with the advanced driving certificate] if they offer it to you do it its worth having a clean licence!!!!!!!! ;o)

Ask to see calibration certificates for the camera you were done by. If it is over 12 montths old - they can't do you!

Kick up a fuss, proof, certificates, times ect and they might not bother.

The camera along from me has "piggybank" written on the rear!

My brother got caught once and got a letter 2 weeks later.

Someone told me that if you request proof of the offence there's a chance the matter will be dropped. Don't know if this is true or not.

I understand that a NIP 'notice of intent to prosecute' must be issued within 14 days . You then have to say who was driving
I hear that is you ignore the NIP letter there is less than 40% Chance that they will issue another and follow up . That is something you only can decide. But why admit until you have to.

usually within 14 days, but remember it may not have been you that triggered the camera, lots of things can cause a camera to flash.
