Like if someone has a nocturnal emission on a sofa or something?

2007-10-17 10:57:02 · 7 answers · asked by Anonymous in Pregnancy & Parenting Pregnancy

About 45 minutes before I went to my friend's house, he apparently had a nocturnal emission on the sofa (he was lying on his stomach and was only in his underpants). I didn't know that he did, so I sat down on the sofa in only my boxers (he's gay so I feel comfortable doing that). I don't know if I even sat on the area that possibly had semen on it, but I have been concerned that if I did, that I could have gotten pregnant. I'm on "the pill" to treat PCOS and endometriosis, but I sometimes take it about a half hour late (I'm mostly on time, though). Could I be pregnant?

I was wearing boxer shorts without anything else on underneath. And they're really thin, so that's why I'm worried. However, this may sound gross, but I'm taking my birth control continuously (because of the endometriosis) so I have a constant discharge/breakthrough bleeding. I didn't want to wear a pad or a tampon, so I sort of wedged a wadded up tissue in between the folds of my vagina, so I suppose that could have provided some extra protection. I'm just so paranoid. The reason why I'm worried is because today I had this gradual cramping pain in my abdomen, which felt like menstrual cramps. I'm pretty sure that it was just because it is nearing the time that I would be getting my period (if I wasn't on the pill), and I tend to get cramps even while on the pill. It went away after about ten minutes, but I just can't stop worrying about it.

Don't worry, you are not pregnat. If the emission occured while he was wearing underwear, was on the sofa for 45 minutes, and you were wearing shorts when you sat on the couch and you take birth control, then you have nothing to be worried about...except maybe being a little grossed out...but seriously, I would not worry.

Sperm will die once it dries out. Depending on how warm and humid the room is this generally takes minutes to an hour or so. It is viable for several (up to about 5 days) in a nice, warm, moist place (a woman's reproductive tract).
