Some of the new CD players also play MP3s. This is probably what they are doing.

This only works if your car play mp3 cds. I have Infiniti M45 and it plays up to 150 songs. When you record your cds change it from Audio files to mp3 files. I use realplayer ( i had to pay for premium options 34.99 one time fee)

You may need to convert your songs to a different file format. I've seen it too, but people tell me it's MP3. You should be able to convert them through a program like iTunes (a lot of different ones) or Windows Media Player (WMA)
