Well, first of all, I'm half German/half Jamaican and no, I don't consider myself white.
Second of all, I don't agree with your friend. I believe the population census never goes into Ethiopia or Mali or Haiti to count the very poor black people, and believe me, there's millions of black people in each of those countries that are never counted, mainly because the census only counts the people who can fill out the paperwork. Then you have the mixed people, who of course are counted as black, black/white, Japanese/black, Mexican/black, and all the other beautiful mixtures out there, all black. There's probably about thirty percent white and forty percent black. All the rest are Spanish, Asian and indian.

It seemes nobody bothered to compile these data recently
Only thing I could find goes back to 1995:

57% Asian
21% Europeans
14% Hispanics from the Western Hemisphere
8% are Africans

I suspect "57%" Asian includes Indians and maybe middle-easterners.

Well, including the variable you are using to define your classification for the how you classify whites, then your friend is correct. However, the issues of this debate between your friend and you, are to me, impossible to support with any sort of empirical data. So, the bottom line is: either both of your are correct, or both of you are incorrect.

You're using a parameter that is too general. Are people who live in Asia white? What do you consider "white"?
