Its definetly not going to end while Bush is in there. So at least to 2008. I would guess middle of 2009 if we get someone in the whitehouse that is against the war.

When Iraq's oil reserves run out.

Considering the little debate in congress and the media about setting a timetable for withdraw, my prediction is quite indefinite. The US has had its eyes and talons on this country for decades. The reason for all the attention is because of its oil reserves; otherwise, there wouldn't be much debate and Iraq would be treated like a country in Africa.

The harsh reality is never.

People always want some sort of decisive we win you lose ending to conflicts. The fact of the matter is in the modern world there are rarely such clean breaks. The best thing anyone can hope for is a stable situation where everybody saves face.

war on an idea can never end. It's a war on terrorism, or more specifically - radical islam. You can't kill a religion, or beat it with war.
