The plane crashed just offshore of an island, so it was not difficult to find the wreckage, nor was it particularly deep. But, no, no recovery of the bodies of Clemente and the others on board.

They have never found his body, he is buried at sea, and I bet even if they did, it would not have been a pretty site. And remember his plane cashed into the ocean, so today it remains lost at sea, and it is very big. Besides they would have been no way he would have surived in the ocean.

A great man, a great ballplayer. One small piece of satisfaction for me is to look in the record book and see that he got exactly 3,000 hits. It gives me a sense of comfort and completeness about his baseball career.
