you know what i mean, i mean a good canadian forward who could lead his team to the stanley cup finals, finish in the top 10 in point getter's(other than borje salming, mats sundin, and darryl sittler). montreal had lafleur, richarde, calgary had lanny macdonald, al macinnis, and now iginla, edmonton had gretzky and messier, ottawa now has spezza and heatley, vancouver had bure and mogilny, but why not the maple leaf's(bad management and scout's perhaps?).(i'm not a maple leafs fan, i was just wondering because i tried to look for a true legend from toronto, seeing as they were one of the first canadian team's and have won the stanley cup the second most times next to montreal.)

First some of th eplayers you listed were not Canadian. Next, unlike Montreal who for years got the cream of the junior crop from the entire province Tornto did not get the same consideration by the league. If it had, Bobby Orr would have been a Leaf.

Come on now, the leafs have had a lot of great players.
Salming, Sittler, Keon, MacDonald, Mahovlich, Armstrong to name a few. Hall of fame guys.
How about the Shack, a legend.
Just haven't had right combination for the last 40 years.

Getting Campbell of Chicago's books makes an excellent variety of their cap issues pass away. The Leafs, if we are being truthful, don't have a lot to provide up previous Kaberle (i won't be able to verify the Hawks wanting Grabovski till Burke comes to a decision to drug Chicago's administration (no longer asserting i'm by comparison...in basic terms asserting) and Kulemin will be out of settlement as of July 1st (RFA)). a pointy/Versteeg/Byfuglien commerce for Kaberle (finished salary unload) works large for Toronto yet in truth I easily ought to imagine Chicago might want to opt for to unload Campbell many times because his cap hit is over $7mm. With that being suggested, Chicago can, in the adventure that they opt for, sit down round and do not something for now, yet in the adventure that they wait till mid/overdue-September they received't be dealing from a position of skill.

What about Doug Gilmour? And the Leafs don't draft well... Most franchise players get drafted and stay with that team. Leafs never get the number one pick because they're always trading their draft picks to reload for next season.

Because they suck.

... and many moons ago montreal had that 50-mile rule in which they automatically got all the players within a 50 mile radius of Montreal, so Toronto and the rest of the league couldn't get those key players that came into the NHL because of that rule.
