I've always been a fans of RPGs, and I decided I was going to give the Tactic/Strategy genre a try. Any good titles you could recommend for the PS2 or Gamecube? Thanks!

Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance (Gamecube) is an EXCELLENT turn-based strategy game. I had never tried the genre before I tried that game, and I'm now hooked.

Be advised that strategy games take some getting used to, no matter how much gaming or RPG experience you have. It's a little like chess in the fact that you have to think about the risks of placing your units.

Real time strategy (Starcraft and Warcraft) are REALLY hard. I'm trying to learn how to play real-time strategy games well, but I'm having a tough time. There's a lot more to think about in those games.

For consoles, your choices are rather limited. For the PS2, you can check out Koei's Romance of the Three Kingdoms series, which should not be confused with Dynasty Warriors. RoTK has had a lot of installments (I think they're in double digits), so it should have been improved and perfected. It's a great strategy game, especially if you have some knowledge of the history behind it.

Dynasty Warriors could be considered strategy, but not really. It's more button-mashing action genre.

Other games to consider are: Dynasty Tactics, Suikoden Tactics, Gladius, the Kessen series, and Army Men RTS. But I can't vouch for any of these, as I haven't actually played them myself.

By tactics and strategy you mean Real-Time Strategy games, then I would suggest taking a look at StarCraft or WarCraft, or the Command and Conquerer series. It's online play that really tests your skills and wits!

If you mean Strategy as in espionage, you can check out the Metal Gear Solid series as well as the Splinter Cell series, as they offer a good depth and storyline. Gameplay is superb as well.
