Let Chuck be x years old
Warren is x + 14
Next year Warren is x + 15
Chuck is x + 1
x + 15 = (3)(x + 1)
x + 15 = 3x + 3
2x = 12
x = 6
Chuck is 6 years
Warren is 20 years

Let Warren's age = w
Let Chuck's age = c
You got the first step right. Since Warren is 14 years older that Chuck, it is true that:
w = c + 14
How about the second statement? Well, next year, Warren is gonna be (w + 1) years old, and Chuck is gonna be (c + 1) years old. Also, Warren will be 3 times as old as Chuck. We use this to get our second equation: w + 1 = 3 * (c + 1)
Now we have our two equations with two unknowns. We can solve to find the ages now.
w + 1 = 3 * (c + 1)
(c + 14) + 1 = 3 * (c + 1) --> (Substitute w = c + 14)
c + 15 = 3c + 3
15 - 3 = 3c - c
12 = 2c
c = 6
w = c + 14
w = (6) + 14 --> (Substitute c = 6)
w = 20
Therefore, Warren is 20 years old.

Let x = Chuck now. Then x + 14 = Warren now.
Let x+1 = Chuck next year. Then 3(x+1) = Warren next year, which also equals (x + 15).
3(x+1) = x+15
3x + 3 = x + 15
2x = 12
x = 6
Warren = x+14 = 20 now

Warren=14-c(3)=Warren ( i think)
I'm not sure how to solve a problem with more than one variable, though.

let Warren be W and Chuck be C then
W = C+14 and
W+1 = 3*(C+1) then
C+14+1 =3C+3
C+15=3C+3
12 = 2C
C = 6 then
W =6+14
W = 20

W = 14+C
W+1 = 3(C+1)
Subtract the first equation from the second,
1 = 2C - 11
C = 6
W = 20
Warren is 20 years old.

W = C + 14
W + 1 = 3(C+1)
W + 1 = 3C + 3
C + 14 + 1 = 3C + 3
C + 15 = 3C + 3
2C = 12
C = 6
W = 20
Warren = 20 years old
_________________________
Because it's ambiguous on what you meant by "3 times as old as Chuck" about whether it was Chuck's age now or then, it also could be the following:
W = C + 14
W + 1 = 3C
C + 15 = 3C
2C = 15
C = 7.5
W = 21.5
Warren = 21.5 years old

To the person that gave me thumbs down...
21.5 isn't the wrong answer and it is also just as correct as 20.
In the question it didn't mention with clear information so it is possible to say that it could be compared with his current age.
