Lexmarks are cheap to buy and they have excellent print quality.
However, they are noisy and the ink is actually the most expensive in the shops.

Lexmark ink cartridges are the most expensive PER ML OF INK. When you compare the page yield of a $25 Lexmark cartridge, and a $25 HP cartridge, you can get a lot more pages out of the HP.

Lexmark ink is inferior and prone to drying in the printhead. If you go for a time without printing, you will most likely need to clean the heads before print quality returns. Cleanings waste ink.

The X3470 takes one cartridge, a tri-color. When you are printing black text, your cartridge fires all three colors to make black. You are using your ink three times faster than if you bought a printer with a separate black cartridge. The #1 cartridge produces a compilation black, not a true black.

If your 3470 is anything like my 2300 series, you have to print an alignment sheet and scan it every time you change the cartridge. Not a big deal for the home user, but I only bought the stupid thing to test cartridges in my refill shop. I'm aligning and scanning 30 times a day, and it wastes time and, of course, ink.

If your retailer has some kind of a 10-day hassle-free return policy, I suggest you take it back and get something that isn't going to cost an arm and a leg to run.

No = Ink cartridges are WAY too expensive, especially as (in most cases) you have to replace all colours at the same time (unlike Canon where, in most cases, you can replace each colour individually as it runs out)

In fact DELL re-badges a Lexmark ... and gives them away every so often with their PC's .. because they make MORE MONEY out of the Ink than they would ever do out of the printer ... (they also have some sort of 'tab' that prevents you fitting discounted Lexmark cartridges ..)

The best thing you can do with a Dell 'give away' printer is to use it until the ink runs out & then bin it ..
..

All my printers have been Lexmark. for the most part I am very happy with that brand.

I did have problems with certain model one time but when I changed models everything worked fine.

The reason I choose Lexmark is because it has good print quality and the ink cartridges are some of the cheapest around.

I think you will be happy with it.

actually the main inexpensive thank you to fill up your printer is to flow to circuit city and purchase a refillable ink jet and four super bottles of ink (black, pink, yellow, green). the main costly element of inkjets is the cartridge itself. interior the long-term in case you fill up your lexmark inkjet greater advantageous than 4 situations, you've saved money. in case you do no longer desire to try this circuit city continuously has teh maximum inexpensive cartridges besides because of the fact that they used recycled cartridges.
