0.35y + 0.65(10 - y) = 0.45(100)
0.35y + 6.5 - 0.65y = 45
- 0.30y + 6.5 = 45
- 0.30y = 38.5
y = 38.5 / - 0.30 = - 128.33

0.35y+0.65(10-y)=0.45(100)
I would multiply thru by 100 to get rid of decimals
35y + 65(10-y) = 45(100)
35y + 650 - 65y = 4500
-30y = 3850
y = -128.333

0.35y+0.65(10-y)=0.45(100) .
35y +65(10-y) = 45(100)
7y + 13(10-y) = 9(100)
7y + 130 -13y = 900
-6y = 770
y = 770/(-6) = -(385/3) = -128 1/3
ANS: y is equal to NEGATIVE 128 and one third
putting it in the format of the question
y = 128.33 (because the questions uses 2 decimal places)

0.35y+0.65(10-y)=0.45(100) simplify
0.35y+6.5 - 0.65y = 45 add/subtract the same terms
-0.3y = 38.5 now devide y and 38.5 by -0.3
y = -128.333333333

Just multiply to get rid of the parentheses, then put the constants on one side of the equation and the y terms on the other.
Are you sure it's not (10+y)? That would make the answer an integer. If it's really (10-y), you'll have a negative decimal in your answer.
