like the aurora, but don't know about the Aurelius, had an uncle Aurelio and he was a terrible person. But I say keep the John and Jane, sounds kinda like John and Jane doe, not to be morbid but, there is some amount of compromise there with your wife, that girl who answered before had a good idea, I like Damien too, but since you want something Greek, maybe Leonidas "like a lion"?

Congratulations on expecting twins!!! I am a twin, and my parents decided that we would have names that began with the same letter and then family middle names. My name is Abigail Elizabeth-Grace and my twin sister is Alexis Lena-Rose. I am really surprised that you were shot down with the names you like. Personally I love those names. Aurora Jane is so very pretty and John Aurelius is a good strong name. I think your children would be blessed to have those names. Even though she shot those names down right away, maybe let her think on them for a little bit. When I first found out I was pregnant, I had totally different names picked out, then I do now. My husband wants to name our daughter Arianna, which I hated in the beginning. But now I really like it. I don't know how far along she is with the twins, but give her a little bit of time. If she still doesn't like the names, try and compromise. I hope this helps. Have a great day!!!

I, personally, am not crazy about Aurelius (John is a great name), BUT that is just one persons opinion, I ma sure there are many that are not crazy about my name.
The thing that strikes me about the names you have chosen are :
they are classic, classy and names they can grow into. I think naming a child after a character in your favorite TV show is sad, or naming a cutesy, kiddy name or something bizzarre just to be different. The names you chose are not overly common yet they are lassic and beautiful
The names you have chosen are beautiful and stand strong as they are, they are not prone to inspiring silly little nicknames. I think if a parent goes through the trouble of picking out hte perfect name then they chould call that child that name rather than using common shortened chopped up version of the name. These names do not inspire choppy nicknames nor do they inspire taunting nicknames.
That is just my take on it, BTW, I absolutely love Aurora Jane!!
In the end, they are your children and it is your choice, give them names that oyu will be proud and please to call then when they are 2 and 42 - you are never going to be able to please everyone, they will never get named if you try to hard to do so. If you really like those two names, then name them such and have no regrets! Once the children are here and named, most of the people who poo pooed the names before don't even think twice about them afterwards as doting over the children becomes a whole to more important than nit picking the parents choice of names. It's amazing how easy that criticism is forgotten once the children are actually born.

For me, neither name by itself is bad at all (I think you did a great job picking them out.) I personally like Athena better than Aurora, but it is still a nice name. The pairing even works nicely...Aurora Jane. And John Aurelius is pretty cool. I mean, it is boring to name a kid John Michael or something equally as dull.
However, the thing that strikes me is that when you talk about the kids, you are rarely going to say their middle names...and in that Aurora and John just don't go together to me. I tend to notice when there is a family and the names just don't fit with one another. Like three of the kids are named strong, classic names and one of them has a hippy name. I see John as a time tested and strong name that tends to pop up in fits and starts on the popular list, but will never fully go underground. Where as Aurora, I see that as a creative, free spirit name, one that is always way down the list of popularity and could even be a 'fad' kind of name. So they just don't fit together to me. Does your wife like either by itself? Because then maybe you could build another around the one you can agree on? Good luck, it can be hard to finally find just the names for kids.

i think Aurora Jane is cute but John Aurelius isn't as cute. i agree with you. i do not think twins names shoud be really similiar. the babies are two different people and you have to respect that. tell her again that you like your names. you have a right in this too. decide on names you both like.

I'll be honest, I kind of like those names. Aurora Jane is really cute I think. And John is not way off the wall-so I'm not sure why she wouldn't have liked that one. Ya'll should definately talk more, and come up with something you are BOTH happy with. Not just her, not just you. These babies are from you BOTH so you should both have sayso in this matter.
