the North had far superior resources and fought the war with one arm behind their back.
the South's advantages were McClelland! & the Rebel Yell

at one point Lincoln was about to lose the election, however, as the war was dragging on and becoming unpopular in the North...but I think that was when Sherman destroyed Georgia and so he was re elected

You could also look at it this way. One advantage of the north, that was a disadvantage of the south is lets say during a battle the North lost 20,000 troops. All they had to do was get 20,000 more to join. The souths disadvantage is that if they lost 20,000 troops, that was 20,000 less than what they had.
