My boyfriend says he will stop bugging me about this if you guys say my names are better. We both wrote down our top 3 names. I re-posted them below.

-His names-

X Guerrilla
Man Warrior
and "Brok" with no middle name.

-My names-

Caligula Rastus (Callie or Ras for short)
Aniketos Theobald (Nikita or Nico)
and Syria Cassius (Sy or Cassy)

Now honestly, aren't my names 100x better?
He says that short names sound manly, and the only long name he likes is "Mastodon", but that's not even a name! He gets his name ideas from movies and bands. :x

Can you guys think of any names he might like? I mean, in case he keeps on being stubborn.

If you all hate my names so much them give me some new ideas.

I like unique names. I don't want to name him William or Jayden or Timothy...

The names are mosty pronounced phonectically, anyway.

This is NOT a joke. Some of you people are so rude.

Shut up, MTE. I spent months finding those names. They are not "lame" and they are real names. I didn't just make them up.

I suppose you let Cosmopolitan dictate how you name your children?

Mhmmm, I know all about Caligula. He could have done the horse thing to make a political statement.

Anyway, who knows what any of those people were really like.

People name their kids Cleopatra and she lead a questionable life.

I really like your names, but his names made me laugh out loud.

Brok is so caveman, but kinda Swedish death metal at the same time. Guerilla X would be better than X Guerilla. That too would be a good one, but it might predestine him to be in a leftist partisan group. Man Warrior is hilarious.

Caligula I like. Rastus sounds too much like a white person with dreads. Aniketos Theobald sounds like an island in the Mediterranean. Syria Cassius...I like Cassius (Cash for short) buy Syria is a country that doesn't bring good images to mind.

Your names are certainly more melodious and fanciful. Why don't you compromise? Brok Rastus? Caligula X? Theobald Warrior? No matter what you do your child will hate his name when he's 10 but love it when he's 20.

I would call my child Vladimir, even if it were a girl.

EDIT: Don't let this weak wristed fops talk you out of a fun name for your kid. Sure he may get made fun of, but maybe he'll be a big kid and won't. Even if he is picked on it will last all of about two weeks. Why allow two weeks of teasing determine what a lifelong name will be? Kids will make fun of kids no matter if their name is Brok or Tim. For god's sake whatever you do don't go to a damn baby site to find a name.

The names are unusual yea, but Brok, Cassius, Theobald and Aniketos seem to be the easier names. You need to take into concideration that one day your little one will be the one having to say their name. Your bf needs his head checked for another...try to take a look at some of the old greek names, egyptian. If you can, find the oldest baby name book you can and have a hay day. Alot of people are trying to go classic, but if you go a little further back in the time line, you may fine some that you will enjoy.

I am not trying in anyway to hurt your feelings but I would personally not name my children any of those names. I truely understand the want to name your children something unique and has special meaning. Having said that it is hard enough going through school and life that adding an extremely unsual name might acutally hurt the children more. I do agree with you that your names are 100% better than your boyfriend's choices.

Bottom line it is your child do what you want but remember they will have to live with it and whatever comes with it.

Good luck and congratulations! Let us know what you decide.

They are all repulsive, except maybe Cassius. I'm guessing this is a joke, but incase it isn't, PLEASE do not name your child any of these names. They are all utterly repugnant and your child will be bullied at school, then as an adult have to repeat their names hundreds of times and they'll get letters with all kinds of spellings on. So in short, both sets of names are abonimable. Yours are slightly better than your boyfriend's, but still nasty.

I apologize for the rather strong manner in which I have answere but I felt it was necessary to avoid the suffering of an innocent child.

Suggestions- More normal variations on the names you've chosen- e.g. Theo, Cal, Xavier, Nico, Brock is quite nice.

Have a look on baby name sites, they often have some quite unusual yet lovely names.

Good Luck!!

PS I know the names are real, but do you know what some of those names stand for/ are associated with? PLEASE imagine yourself in your childs shoes when choosing a name.

Umm....they are all "unique", whatever. Maybe you should read up Caligula.......he was a screwy guy

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caligula

Wikipedia says:
Caligula: The contemporary sources, Philo of Alexandria and Seneca the Younger, describe an insane Emperor that was self-absorbed, angry, killed on a whim and who indulged in too much spending and sex. He is accused of sleeping with other men's wives and bragging about it,killing for mere amusement, purposely wasting money on his bridge, causing starvation, and wanting a statue of himself erected in the Temple of Jerusalem for his worship. They accuse Caligula of incest with his sisters; Agrippina, Drusilla and Julia Livilla, and say he prostituted them to other men. They claim he sent troops on illogical military exercises. They also allege he made the palace into a literal brothel. Perhaps most famous, they say that Caligula tried to make his horse, Incitatus, a consul and a priest.

Anyway, he was nutty, don't do that to a kid.

to be honest, im not a big fan of either of your guys choices, but yours are a lot better. x guerrilla? man warrior? wtf, these are not names and they don't sound manly, they sound completely idiotic! um and mastodon? that kid will be banging his head against a wall every day, thinking why, why, why is this my name? brok isn't as bad, but i prefer broc, and i think the name sounds kinda arrogant anyway.
your names--i love the nickname callie, but im not as fond of the full name. what about calliope, if you want something unique? nikita and nico are cute, and aniketos is ok, although not really my taste. im really against theobald though, what about just theo, or theodore? syria cassius--thats a girl's name right? syria is really pretty actually and cassy is a cute nickname. but idk about cassius, it sounds kind of like a guy's name, b/c it reminds me of an old fashioned greek/roman sounding guy's name (brutus, something "us")

but you guys need to be more mature about deciding on names. saying that yours are so much better (and hes probably doing the same) is NOT going to get you anywhere. try to talk to each other about what you specifically don't like about a name, and tell each other what kinds of names you like. maybe you can find baby name books or websites of unique names to help you too.

some names he might like:
shrek...dragon warrior...no im totally kidding
what about mike or luke, those are short names that are "manly" in my opinion.
what kind of movies and bands does he like? maybe you can think of unique names from movies and bands he likes or from movies and bands similar to ones he likes, or names from the movies and bands he likes but changed somewhat.
good luck and congrats!

EDIT: i just looked over the other answers and realized that your baby is a boy, i didn't realize that sorry. in that case, than do not have callie and cassy as nicknames, they are really girls names thru and thru! and syria is more of a girls name than a guys name as well, so dont use that. its pretty for a girl though, if you ever have a girl.

I really don't like any of them, but i would say yours ARE better. I actually like Brock (Brok) the best out of all of them, but with a middle name. What about Brock Cassius? He could be Brok to dad and Cassie to mom. Or Brock Syria. Brock Rastus. But I think Brock is the best first name.

Name him Chip because it seems like your BF has a chip on his shoulder to want to come up with names like that - either that or your BF is scrawney and weak and wants an "a** kickin' name for his child. But what if your boy is frail and small boned and named Man Warrior? Give him a sign that says "kick me" to wear all throughout school. Not trying to be mean, but it's true....

Well you sure got them riled up lol. Maybe if you like Cassius well enough you could use that, its old fashioned but not too awful. Caligula is not a good idea at all...he was not a good person! Good luck!
