Seems fair enough to me. Why would a student need to wear a hat in school? How does that contribute to learning?

The flip side is that a hat can be distracting and I have seen students use them to hide their eyes while they try to sleep or cheating. I have also seen them use hats for cheating by writing answers on the underside of them.

If you want the rule changed, you would have to come up with a compelling reason why they need to be allowed. It would have to be something that overcomes the negatives.

I used to think it was pointless. The administration and the teachers argued it was distracting other students from learning. I doubt a baseball cap with a Braves logo would divert students from learning Macbeth, but that's just me. We were allowed to hear hats on "spirit weeks" but it was still unfair.

Its actually common courtesy (sp) so it doesn't matter if you thinks it's fair or not. Now if you have to wear a certain head wrap for your religion they should let you do that. But in genral I think it's fair.

Fair or unfair.....their school....their rule.
