Why do people hate Americans so much?

Well, the government, especially under Dubya doesn't do much to help.
Also, the Americans who can afford to travel are the spoiled upper-middle class, in large part. Not exactly the most open-minded.
When people get to know average Joe's (and Jo's) they usually like them.
A lot of people out there hate America and 'Americans' but like all the Americans they've met. Sort of the way we hate lawyers but the one's who live in our neighborhood are really nice.

Well, I'm American. I love people. I work in HealthCare. I have traveled a bit. I recycle. I care about my governments actions on the rest of the world. I guess my point is that I'm just trying to survive and be peaceful like everyone else. I don't want to be made to feel guilty for living here. I love my country. The people I know that live here are generally the same. If you have met some loud, pushy, rich, snobby, over baring Americans, I apologize. But try to take a look at some of the folk around you. Are they Winning any citizen awards? Sometimes I feel like people make us out to be better or worse than we are. Truly, most of us just want to live our lives in peace. Thanks for reading

To understand this one, you'd need to be well traveled, and spent time looking at Americans, thru those eyes!! Americans are pretty rude & pushy when its not called 4 !! We flount our $$$,power, inteligence as if the rest of the world is stupid!! I am an American, & have been sometimes embarrased by their reactions to others. Like I said earlier, you'd have to expierance it to understand it!! Our politicial stands have an adverse on their way of thinking!!!

It's not the people they hate, it's the governments and people in charge.
I think when someone says "stupid American" they are referring to what we vote for....
Some may be North Koreans who are jealous.

I think people give us a ton of credit that we don't deserve. For instance obama is doing horrible but is the 2nd most power person in the world. The only reason cuz of that is because he is representing America . So we aren't all that great

Most reports I hear are that people love americans but don't like our governments policies. Which is about the same as americans themselves. The founders were mostly christian and encouraged christian faith as the model to be a blessing to the world. Butover the last 80 years government leaders have departed from that model. As a result we are no longer the blessing to the world we once were. American christians have great favor with many world leaders. But those leaders are suspicious about our politics. We need to do away with 'separation of church and state'(which is not in the constituition) and start letting the christian faith be part of our common law like it once was. I'm sure our popularity would rebound.

In the middle east and in south america those in power do all they can to keep the peoples anger and hatred focused on america so their citizens wont stop and wonder "why with all the oil money pouring into their countries the common peoples lives still suck while those in power live in huge mansions and have billions of dollars

Think about it in terms of growth and age for humans. Americans are like the world's teenagers. We're snotty, spoiled, uncultured, wasteful, and we think we know everything. We go around to different countries who are thousands of years older than us, and we tell them what to do. And when they don't do what we want, we try to force our views on them. Face it- Americans are jerks. We're not respectful of other people's cultures, we worship beauty and money, and we only pretend to care what's going on in the world when we're going to get something out of it. Genocide is a current and deplorable problem going on right now in Africa, and where are we? Fighting over oil in the Middle East with Bush's old business partners because we don't want to pay $5 a gallon for our SUV's.

Cause the rest of the world is sick of being told what to do. How to do it and if it isn't done then the bombs fall. They have Americanised the whole world through media, goods and values. The citizens don't even see what's right infront of there face. Trying to blame one man when the problem started when they gained their independence.
They have power through intimidation and this is the reasoning behind people thinking that they are trying to take over the world.
American's ignorance will be your undoing!
